2008-03 WTC-HKIA Opens in a Strategic Location at Asia’s Important Transport Hub

Offers businesses comprehensive facilities to help them tap into local and global markets

Hong Kong – 28 March, 2008 - World Trade Centre at Hong Kong International Airport (WTC-HKIA), which has just opened in a strategic location at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) – one of the Asia’s important transportation hubs – is set to make a significant impact on the Asia Pacific economy with a provision of comprehensive one-stop business services to both local and international enterprises. To tie in with a full range of surrounding infrastructure facilities, including world-class hotels, entertainment facilities, theme park, airfreight centre and the city’s biggest trade show centre and its ideal position in the Pearl River Delta Region, WTC-HKIA is at the heart of an air, sea and land transportation hub that connects Hong Kong to major cities around the globe. Ferry services and a number of overland transport routes also conveniently connect it with Macau and other Pearl River Delta cities. These geographical advantages help to position WTC-HKIA as Hong Kong’s premium business gateway to China and the rest of the world.

Sanctioned by the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, WTC-HKIA is the city’s sole Regular Member of World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) in addition to the existing Affiliate Member in Causeway Bay. WTCA’s over 300 World Trade Centres in 85 countries offer a wealth of premium business facilities and services, as well as reciprocal programmes for their members. WTC-HKIA will therefore be the perfect platform for international business travellers who are engaged in commercial projects or who wish to develop their global businesses. It will likewise be the ideal choice of venue for trade, conference and social gatherings.

WTCA’s Vice-Chairman in Greater China, Dr. Annie S.C. Wu, comments: "China’s economy is growing at a rapid pace, and the competitiveness of its enterprises is rapidly catching up with the world’s economy. Going global has now become the buzzword among these corporations. Capitalising on its competitive edges in terms of its linguistic skills, all-round trading experience, global vision and status as an international financial centre, Hong Kong is now playing a major role in the globalization of Chinese enterprises. I believe the launch of WTC-HKIA will help to attract more foreign investors, particularly those who wish to test the water in Hong Kong and to exploit the enormous business opportunities that exist in the local, overseas and Mainland China markets."

World-class Business Facilities Help to Lower Start-up Costs

In addition to its outstanding transportation network, another advantage of WTC-HKIA is its Business Centre, which is operated by the Regus Group, the world-renowned office facility solution provider. It manages over 100 highly flexible world-class offices to meet growing business needs. Business Centre offers more than 100 highly flexible, ready-to-use, world-class offices to meet the various needs of companies, ranging from a simple workstation to a fully fledged branch office. These can be leased for any period from a few hours up to two years. The Centre also provides a full range of other facilities, such as telecommunications, IT support, secretarial and reception services.

WTC-HKIA’s Conference Centre offers total solutions for every type of business gatherings, ranging from video conferences, small meetings and press conferences to public auctions and annual general meetings. Its catering services can also arrange anything from simple refreshments to a formal banquet. Sophisticated AV equipment and professional technical support are available for events such as lectures and forums with more than 150 participants, or vocational training programmes.
